Frequently Asked Questions

We know that shopping for extended vehicle service contract can be confusing. That is why we have made it one of our top priorities to give you simple, straightforward information on a variety of subjects related to extended vehicle service contracts in general as well as the One Source Advantage Plus plans.

What is an extended vehicle service contract?

Also sometimes known as a vehicle warranty, an extended vehicle service contract is a policy that can be purchased by a consumer that will cover the costs of repair, parts, labor, and/or sales tax for certain repairs or replacements. They work very similarly to the manufacturer warranty that comes with most new vehicles.

Do I really need an extended auto warranty?

Your vehicle is a big investment. You likely spent a lot of money to acquire it. The longer it stays in great working condition, the more value you get from your investment. Extended vehicle service contracts are designed to protect your investment by keeping your vehicle in good, drivable shape without you having to incur a lot of extra repair costs.

Considering that the average hourly rate for mechanic labor is over $100 an hour, labor alone can be a smart reason to have an extended vehicle service contract. When you also consider how expensive parts and systems can be to fix, the choice becomes quite clear.

Why buy now? Especially if I still have a manufacturer warranty.

Just like health insurance or life insurance, the better shape your vehicle is in when you obtain coverage, the better your rates and pricing will be. It actually costs far less to extend the warranty on a newer vehicle in tip-top shape than it does for an older vehicle that's fallen into disrepair. By buying today, you lock in the costs of an extended vehicle service contract plan now, while your vehicle's at its best.

Where can I purchase a One Source Advantage Plus extended service contract?

One Source Advantage Plus products are only available through select Credit Unions and financial Institutions in the United States. Quite simply One Source Advantage Plus products were designed to offer superior security, coverage and value, than extended service contracts offered by auto dealers or direct marketers.

Why would I want to purchase my extended service contract from my Credit Union or Financial Institution versus a Dealer or Direct Marketer?

Your Credit Union or Financial Institution is by design customer or member driven. They are charged with providing you the best security, quality, value, and service on every product they provide. Their loan officers are not commission sales people and they will stand behind you every step of the way fighting for your satisfaction if needed. They operate by making small mark-ups on numerous transactions. In contrast most dealers and direct marketers are usually motivated by profit. As with any product you maximize your returns by providing less coverage and value with higher mark-ups. Their salespeople and finance managers are paid on commission and are usually not with the same organization for very long.

Can I really take my vehicle anywhere for repairs?

Yes, you really can choose any dealer, national chain, or local mechanic to perform the repairs on your vehicle. Unfortunately, this is not true of all extended vehicle service contract providers.

How are repair claims paid?

This is one of the best aspects of being a One Source Advantage Plus customer. Claims are incredibly simple. Bring the vehicle to the repair facility of your choice, present your One Source Advantage Plus contract to the service professional so that they may contact our claims department. We will pay for any covered repairs via our company credit card over the phone. All you pay is your deductible (if any). There is no paperwork, no limit on the number of claims you file, and no need to pay first and then work to be reimbursed.

How do deductibles work?

With One Source Advantage Plus, each repair visit, no matter how many items need to be fixed will only require payment of one deductible. We do offer a zero deductible option where you'll never reach into your pocket for a covered repair.

What if my car repair facility won't take your plan?

We find it rarely happens that a repair facility won't accept our extended vehicle service contract plans. One Source Advantage Plus makes a habit of paying immediately and bases pricing on industry standard manuals. In fact, many repair facilities are eager to do business with us once they learn that they do not have to bill us. Still, if you are concerned that your repair facility will not accept one of our plans, we'd be happy to contact the facility and establish a relationship before you purchase a plan. Should you find that a repair facility will not accept our plan for any reason, we will send you a prompt reimbursement for the covered amount.

What if I want to cancel my warranty?

Although we're certain you will love your One Source Advantage Plus extended vehicle service contract, we are more than happy to offer a money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with your plan. Most plans can be canceled within either 30 or 60 days for a full refund. After that time period, a pro-rated refund will be issued for the unused portion of your contract.

Is my warranty transferable?

Yes! It most certainly is. For a modest transfer fee of $50 or less, you can pass your extended vehicle service contract onto the future owner of your vehicle should you decide to sell it while you are covered. This can be a big incentive for a buyer to select your vehicle over another.
